I can’t stop smiling as I tear through the wrapping. A pile of gifts sits around me, every ribbon and bow you sent with your name on it. The hat fits just right. The books already feel at home in my hands. Then comes the lingerie. Silk and lace. Nothing covers much, and that’s exactly the point. CDs and DVDs finish the stack, every one of them chosen with me in mind. I hold each present against my skin, feel the weight of your thoughts behind it. “Thank you,” I whisper to the empty room, and the words land like a kiss.
