Preparing for a date

She slips a dress over her head and immediately pulls it off. Ten minutes later the same dress lies on the chair again. Makeup scatters across the counter. One shoe turns up, then the other refuses to match. She stops searching. With nothing left to prove to anyone else, she peels away the thin lingerie she’d chosen for the night. Her fingers drift between her legs, slow at first, then firmer. She settles back on the bed, thighs parting wider. The touch turns wet and rhythmic. Each stroke sharpens. Her breath shortens. She pushes two fingers inside, curls them, finds the spot that makes her hips lift off the sheets. Free hand cups a breast, thumb circling the stiff nipple. She works faster, breath catching, until the tension snaps and she shudders hard against her own hand, the date forgotten.
